NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - Parents of between the extremes schoolers and high school freshmen in southeastern Indiana can soon drug test their children with free kits, on the other hand a medical organization says they don’t work well.
The New Albany-Floyd County bring under subjection system in April approved the
use of kits from Project 7th Grade. That’s a Phoenix, Arizona-based
group that provides the tests to school systems and other organizations.
The American Academy of Pediatrics issued a public recommendation that “school- and home-based mix with drugs testing not be
implemented” on this account that the kits are not proven to be effective, and
more research is needed.
The tests rely on piss samples to provide readings for 12 drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates and oxycodone.
